Hindu outfits in Karnataka protest against Pathaan

Bengaluru, Jan 25 (UNI) Hindu organisations on Wednesday protested in parts of Karnataka against Shah Rukh Khan's latest Hindi film Pathaan's release in theatres.
They removed posters at Veeresh Cinemas in Bengaluru and raised "Boycott Pathaan" slogans, before the police dispersed them.
In Belagavi, the saffron brigade tried to disrupt the movie in Swaroop Theatre before 20 members of the Hindu organisations were detained by Khade Bazar police.
Heavy police personnel were deployed at the theatre following the incident to maintain law and order.
In Kalaburagi, Hindu Jagruti Sene members pelted stones at Shetty Multiplex, and some other protestors attempted to jump over the gates to disrupt the screening. In this melee, a Sene leader suffered minor injuries.
At Urban Oasis Mall in Hubballi, a Hindu outfit raised slogans for the boycott of the screening of Pathaan. The Karnataka Special Reserve Police (KSRP) was also deployed surrounding the areas.
Pathaan is mired in controversy for hurting Hindu sentiments through "Besharam Rang", in which Deepika Padukone is dancing in a saffron bikini. This led to protests across India.
The Central Board of Film Certification had directed the makers of Pathaan to make changes in the film, including its songs, as per the board guidelines, CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi said last month.
The CBFC had asked production banner Yash Raj Films to submit the revised version of the spy action thriller before its release, Joshi said.
