HC seeks Mah Govt's reply in scam worth Rs 66 lakh in Shri Saibaba

Pune, Jun 29 (UNI) The Aurangabad bench of Bombay high court has
directed the Maharashtra government to file a reply in three weeks
on the petition filed by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti against an alleged
scam of Rs 66 lakh in Shri Saibaba Sansthan of Shirdi.
The Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad (HVP) and HJS had alleged in a letter
to court that a scam of Rs 66,55,997 was committed by Shri Saibaba
Sansthan Trust while purchasing materials at exorbitant rates for
controlling the crowd during the Simhastha Kumbha Mela at Nashik in
2015, said a release issued by HJS here on Friday.
In this regard, a clarification was sought from Shri Saibaba
Sansthan, however, despite the lapse of one and a half year, no
reply was received.
A complaint to this effect was also made with the Chief Minister.
Since no action was taken so far in this matter, HJS had filed a
public interest litigation in the Aurangabad bench of Bombay high
court.
In the hearing held on June 26, the bench of Justices Ravindra Borde
and Arun Dhawale has issued notices to Shri Saibaba Sansthan,
secretary of Law & Judiciary Department, secretary of Home Ministry
and the superintendent of police of Ahmednagar district by directing
them to file their say within 3 weeks.
The next hearing in the case will be held after 3 weeks.
Advocates of HVP Suresh Kulkarni, Pankaj Gaikwad, Umesh Bhadgaonkar
represented HJS, whereas Adv A B Girase represented the state
government, the release added.
