Great opening for 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2'; 'Dhaakad' finds few takers and dismal opening day collection

Mumbai, May 21 (UNI) It has been a disappointing opening day for Kangana Ranaut’s “Dhaakad” which has been pushed behind a great distance by Kartik Aaryan’s “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2”, with most analysts' initial predictions being thrown down the bin.
Initial predictions had touted "Dhaakad" film to earn over 4-5 crore INR though has just managed to earn 1 crore INR, as opposed to the Anees Bazmee horror comedy “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" which has had a highly impressive opening of 14 crore INR.
The “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” sequel has become Kartik's biggest opener ever since his debut.

According to Box Office India's report, "Dhaakad has seen a very dull opening and may even struggle to get over the 1 crore nett mark. The film is a female action film with Kangana Ranaut who is more of a media star rather than a box office star so a film made on such a cost is a risk and the film hardly stands a chance."
"The genre has not worked before much but maybe it can do better with a bigger star and the USP of a female action film would be a female doing action so it probably has to be done in a different way while here it looks like the same as any hero led spy film with the female replacing the male character," it added.
Reviewing the film, Taran Adarsh has called “Dhaakad” as ‘disappointing’. He tweeted: “#OneWordReview... #Dhaakad: DISAPPOINTING. Rating: Solid action and superb performances [#Kangana exceptional, #ArjunRampal first-rate, #DivyaDutta superb] are aces… BUT falters due to a routine plot, patchy screenwriting, overdose of action and weak finale. #DhaakadReview”
With things as they are going now, it would seem that the Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu horror comedy sequel is bound to fill more seats with things not looking so good for director Razneesh Ghai’s more ambitious action thriller at the box office.
