Govt rejects Chinese envoy suggestion for trilateral talks between China, India and Pakistan

New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) India on Monday rejected suggestion for a trilateral summit between India, China and Pakistan and asserted that India-Pakistan relations are "purely bilateral in nature".
"Matters related to India-Pakistan relations are purely bilateral in nature and have no scope for involvement of any third country," MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in response to a question.
"We have seen reports on comments made by the Chinese Ambassador in this matter. We have not received any
such suggestion from the Chinese government. We consider the statement as the personal opinion of the Ambassador," Mr Kumar said.
The MEA response comes in the wake of media reports those quoted Chinese Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui for saying that India, China and Pakistan can have a trilateral meeting under the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) framework.
"Security cooperation is one of three pillars of the SCO," Mr Luo has been quoted adding, "Some Indian friends suggested that China, India and Pakistan may have some kind of trilateral cooperation under the SCO".
