Gorakhpur-bound Shramik train reaches Rourkela

Gorakhpur-bound Shramik train reaches Rourkela

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) In an embarrassment for the Railways, a Shramik Special train headed for Gorakhpur left Mumbai on May 21 and ended up at Rourkela in Odisha, a video shared by passengers on Twitter revealed.

However, a senior Railway Ministry official here said some Shramik trains were being run on diverted routes and a few trains were diverted to Bihar via Rourkela on Friday to clear the congestion.

Meanwhile, the Western Railway said in a statement, "It is to inform that Vasai Road-Gorakhpur Shramik Special train, which departed on May 21 was to run on Kalyan-Jalgoan-Bhusaval-Khandwa-Itarsi-Jabalpur-Manikpur route but this train will go to Gorakhpur by diverted route via Bilaspur (SECR), Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Adra, Asansol (ER) due to heavy traffic congestion on existing routes."

A few of the passengers wrote on twitter that "We have boarded the Shramik Special train on May 21 to go back to Gorakhpur. However,

despite 23 hours of journey we are still in Maharashtra. We don`t have anything to eat and there is no water in the train. And why

the train is going towards Nagpur from Bhusawal."

This is possibly for the first time that the train has changed its destination without keeping the passengers informed.

The passengers also alleged that the Railways did not tell them about the duration of their travel.
