Gill named new Team India ODI captain

Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) Shubman Gill has been named India’s new ODI captain, taking over from Rohit Sharma for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia.
This marks Gill’s first stint as leader of the ODI team, although he has previously captained India in Tests and T20Is. The move is seen as a strategic step ahead of the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also announced the squad for the five-match T20I series that will follow the ODIs.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC) website, Marsh suffered a direct blow to the groin earlier this week, resulting in internal testicular bleeding. The team management confirmed that he will require rest and rehabilitation before returning to action.
