French President Calls for Creation of 'Real European Army'

Paris, Nov 7 (UNI) French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a "Real European army" to better defend itself against major forces such as Russia, China and even the US.
Macron, who has pushed for a joint EU military structure since taking over the French presidency, said in a radio interview on November 6 that Europe needed to be less dependent on America.
"We need a Europe which defends itself better alone, without just depending on the United States, in a more sovereign manner. When I see President Trump announcing that he's quitting a major disarmament treaty which was formed after the 1980s euro-missile crisis that hit Europe, who is the main victim, Europe and its security." QNA reported quoting Macron and further adding that European Union is trying to deal with the US President Donald Trump's move to reduce his country's role in Europe by adopting a European defence fund starting in 2019 to develop joint defence capabilities.
