Fiscal deficit in April-October period of FY25 stands at Rs 7.5 lakh crore

New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) The central government's fiscal deficit for April-October period of the current financial year 2024-25 stood at Rs 7.50 lakh crore or 46.5% of the Budget estimate for the full year, as per data released by Controller General of Accounts (CGA) on Friday.
Fiscal deficit or difference between total receipts and total expenditure during April-October period of FY24 had stood at Rs 8.03 lakh crore.
The Government of India's total receipts during April-October period of FY25 was Rs 17,23,074 crore while total expenditure stood at Rs 24,73,898 crore.
"In April-October FY2025, the net tax revenues rose by a muted 0.2% YoY (on account of additional devolution of taxes), non-tax revenues expanded by 50% boosted by the RBI dividend, and revenue expenditure grew by a modest 8.7%, while capex contracted by an unpalatable 14.7%," said ICRA chief economist Aditi Nayar commenting on fiscal deficit data.
For the first seven months of the current fiscal, the government’s capital expenditure was Rs 4.7 lakh crore or 42% of the annual target, compared to Rs 5.5 lakh crore in the same period a year ago.
