Exorbitant price of oil not today’s problem: Suresh Prabhu

New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu said that the problem of extortionate prices of fuel have been raging since decades.
“The first oil shock came 45 years ago. India should have thought about changing the fuel source a long time back”, said the minister at an event in the national capital on Friday night.
Mr Prabhu was here to confer India Green Energy Awards 2018 organised by the Indian Federation of Green Energy.
Addressing the gathering, the minister pressed for the use of alternate sources of energy in the transportation system.
Mentioning the proposed high speed mode of passenger or freight transportation by the Hyperloop, he said, 'Before changing the whole transport system we should concentrate on short term solution of changing the fuel.'
He praised the government’s move in approving the National Policy on Biofuels. Reiterating his government's vision in promotion of fuels, Mr Prabhu said, “Fueling the thought process of people is more important than fuel these days. I am happy that Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE) has brought the key players together in promoting the biofuels.”
Mr Prabhu concluded his speech by urging the IFGE to change the mindset of people to use cleaner and greener source of energy.
