Colombo, June 25 (UNI) The European Union is ready to help Sri Lanka overcome its worst economic meltdown that has seen the island nation grapple with serious shortages of essential goods including food, fuel and medicines.
The message was conveyed on Friday to President Gotabaya Rajapaka by ambassadors of the European Union member states who asked him to consider European countries as friends of Sri Lanka, The Island newspaper reported on Saturday.
The Ambassadors pointed out that a clear communication of future plans of rebuilding the country’s economy would make it easier for the international community to assist Sri Lanka.
