Electric buses to replace buses run on Diesel and Petrol in Bengaluru: Parameshwara

Bengaluru, Aug 29 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara today said that Electric buses will replace buses run on diesel and petrol in the city in next five years.
Mr Parameshwara, who is also Bengaluru Development Minister, speaking after inaugurating the Eighth Bus World Exhibition here, said that the city has become the main focus point in last two decades and had shown rapid progress in various fields such as Aerospace, Information Technology and Biotechnology, Industry, Science and Research. Over 70 lakh vehicles plied on the city roads everyday besides over 6000 vehicles belonging to Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). There were no organised roads and the traffic has become the basic problem. Majority of these vehicles run on diesel resulting in large scale smoke pollution. Hence the introduction of electric buses would be a better solution, he felt.
Delegates from India and abroad including China, Korea, Australia and Belgium are participating and leading Electric bus manufacturers in the globe have put up stalls in the exhibition.

Bhopal, Aug 13 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for School Education (Independent Charge) Inder Singh Parmar on Thursday dedicated to the public the e-governance portal mashim.nic.in and MASHIM mobile app at the state capital’s Board Office.
“Henceforward, pupils will be able to accomplish Board-related work easily from their cellular phones,” the senior politician was officially quoted as saying.

Minister stresses on filth-free urban areas

Bhopal, Aug 13 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh emphasised on Thursday that every city within the state should be garbage-free.
“No heaps of refuse must be seen. Urban bodies will be ranked on the basis of work executed by them from August 16 to 30 under the Gandagi Bharat Chhodo-Madhya Pradesh campaign and those attaining high ranking shall be honoured. The estimation ought to be undertaken by an agency or team of officials of the Urban Administration and Development Directorate. Programmes relating to cleanliness should be conducted every day in different districts during the crusade and public representatives also invited to these events. Activities must take place to make people feel something different is happening,” the senior politician was officially quoted as saying during a meeting with bureaucrats.

Father-son duo charred to death as MSRTC bus-van collide, catch fire in Palghar

Palghar, Aug 13 (UNI) Two members of a family, including a father-son duo, were charred to death and four other people were injured on Thursday when a state transport bus collided head-on with a van and subsequently both the vehicles caught fire on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in the district.

Bhopal, Aug 13 (UNI) A 25-ft-high bronze idol of Bharat Mata – a source of fiery inspiration for not only those noble personages who struggled for the nation’s Independence but also those gallant officers and men of the Indian Armed Forces who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty – is scheduled to be unveiled on Independence Day by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the city’s Shaurya Smarak at 0830 hrs.
The image, which stands atop an approximately ten-ft-high lotus pedestal, is expected to particularly inspire the younger generation vis-à-vis imbibing the glorious values and traditions that comprise this country’s hallmark.
