Electric buses to replace buses run on Diesel and Petrol in Bengaluru: Parameshwara

Bengaluru, Aug 29 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara today said that Electric buses will replace buses run on diesel and petrol in the city in next five years.
Mr Parameshwara, who is also Bengaluru Development Minister, speaking after inaugurating the Eighth Bus World Exhibition here, said that the city has become the main focus point in last two decades and had shown rapid progress in various fields such as Aerospace, Information Technology and Biotechnology, Industry, Science and Research. Over 70 lakh vehicles plied on the city roads everyday besides over 6000 vehicles belonging to Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). There were no organised roads and the traffic has become the basic problem. Majority of these vehicles run on diesel resulting in large scale smoke pollution. Hence the introduction of electric buses would be a better solution, he felt.
Delegates from India and abroad including China, Korea, Australia and Belgium are participating and leading Electric bus manufacturers in the globe have put up stalls in the exhibition.
