Demand for UCC echoes in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) Demand for a Uniform Civil Code echoed in Lok Sabha on Wednesday as BJP MP from Jharkhand Nishikant Dubey urged the government to implement it as soon as possible.
Raising the issue under matters of public importance in Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Dubey, an Mp from Godda in Jharkhand said, "This country was divided in 1947 on the basis of religion, but India remained a secular country... Recently Allahabad High Court gave a suggestion that the Constitution's Directive Principle says there should be Common Civil Code".
He said while the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPc) was uniform, the civil code continued to be on the basis of religion.
