New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) After a long wait, the Congress on Saturday released its first list of 54 candidates for the Delhi assembly elections with Alka Lamba fielded from Chandni Chowk, senior party leader Krishna Tirath from Patel Nagar and Delhi Congress leader Haroon Yusuf contesting from Ballimaran seat.
In a list cleared by the Central election committee of the Congress and released by AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik, Poonam Azad, wife of Kirti Azad, has been fielded from Sangam Vihar, Aam Aadmi party rebel Adarsh Shastri has been fielded from Dwarka seat, Delhi Congress working president Devender Yadav from Badli seat, Rajesh Lilotia from Mangol Puri-SC, Amandeep Singh Sudan from Rajouri Garden seat, Sumesh Shokeen from Matiala, Abhishek Dutt from Kasturba Nagar, Dr Narendra Nath from Shahdara and Ch Mateen Ahmed from Seelampur.
Alka Lamba would be pitten against former Congress leader Prahlad Singh Sawhney while Poona Azad would be pitted against Dinesh Mohaniya of the AAP.
The Aam Aadmi party has already released its entire list of 70 candidates for the Assembly polls while the BJP on Friday released a list of 57 candidates for the state assembly polls.
Elections to the Delhi Assembly were scheduled to be held on February 8.
