Defence Innovation Hub to be developed in Nashik: Bhamre

Nashik, Jun 13 (UNI) A Defence Innovation Hub will be developed in the city in order to get maximum exposure to the product research and aviation sector, stated Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre.
Speaking with reporters here on Tuesday, he said that for promoting the defence production, the central government has decided to boost defence product manufacturing in the country to make it a hub of such components.
"It will be supportive for industrial growth in Maharashtra," he said.
A third party inspection agency system to check the quality of defence products manufactured by private organisations will also be inaugurated on the occasion, the Minister informed.
Stating that the Ministry of Defence has accepted the role of creating India's emerging defence product hub while promoting the country's defence products, Dr Bhamre said that under this, Maharashtra has the potential to be a 'Defence Hub' in Nashik and added that is why it is being implemented in Nashik for the first time.
The industrial sector and the employment generation of Nashik will be encouraged by the activities being implemented in respect of the development of vendorship-related to the defence sector, he pointed.
He also informed that the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers will organise a seminar on 'Opportunities in Aviation and Defence Sectors in Nashik' in city on June 15.
In this seminar, representatives of Navy, Army, Air Force and companies such as Tata, Mahindra, Kirloskar, Bharat Forge and Ordnance Factory Board, Defence Research and Development Establishment, Director General of Quality Assurance, Air Quality Assurance and HAL will participate, he said.
Apart from these, NIMA, AIMA, Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture, Small Industries Bharti etc will also participate, the Minister noted.
