Decision on bigger aircraft operation from Calicut soon: Raghavan

Kozhikode, Jul 30 (UNI) A decision on re-launching of wide-bodied (Code-E) aircraft from Calicut international airport near here would be announced soon, senior leader M K Raghavan, MP on Monday informed.

An assurance in this connection has been received from Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu this evening, said a release here.

Stating the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) have been directed to kya necessary steps on the issue, Raghavan, representing Kozhikode in Lok Sabha quoting the Minister's office, said the AAI would make the announcement.

Mr Raghavan had earlier in the month staged a hunger strike in the city to press the demand followed by a meeting between Mr Prabhu and MPs, including Indian Union Muslim League General Secretary P K Kunhalikutty, from the region in New Delhi recently on the issue.
