Dalit writer Rajni Tilak passes away

New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) Famous Dalit writer and social worker Rajni Tilak passed away at St Stephen's Hospital here late on Friday night.
She was 60. She was admitted to the hospital due to illness in the spine, where she died at 2300 hrs on Friday night.
She is survived by her daughter. Her body was cremated at Nigam Bodh Ghat on Saturday.
Former CPI (M) MP Brinda Karat, Subhashini Ali, Rajya Sabha member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Manoj Jha, famous Dalit activist Ashok Bharti and well-known Dalit writer Mohandas Naimisharai and Shyoroz Singh were present there.
Tilak was associated with the Dalit authors Association, Anganwadi Workers' Union and many other social organisations and was fighting for the rights of sanitation workers.
Tilak was born in a poor family of old Delhi.
She had a close association with Delhi unit of Dalit Panther, All India Anganwadi Workers and Helper Union, National Federation for Dalit Women, Nakodar World Dignity Forum, Dalit Writer Association and National Dalit Women's Movement etc.
