CSIR-NGRI launches ES group to develop landslide and flood early warning system for Himalayan region

Hyderabad, Oct 3 (UNI) The CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI) has launched an ‘Environmental Seismology’ (ES) group which is making efforts to develop a landslide and flood early warning system for the Himalayan region based on real time monitoring.

A release here said, landslides, rockslides and flooding events are a cause of major concern having claimed thousands of lives. Ironically there still doesn’t exit a clear mechanism for early warning and mitigation of these hazards.
