COVID-19 brought state's tourism sector to a standstill, says a senior official

Itanagar, May 23 (UNI) Coronavirus outbreak has immensely affected state's tourism sector,
a senior Tourism official said on Saturday.
"COVID-19 pandemic brought state's tourism to a standstill. It has also affected tourism stakeholders," Sadhana Deori, state's Secretary Tourism said.
She also informed that around 8,842 bookings were cancelled following Corona crisis.
"We are trying to bring a small package of relief for affected Tourism stakeholders,
especially priority would be given to hoteliers and home stays," the senior official told
AIR Itanagar in an interview.
She said that the State Tourism Department is working on marketing strategy to
re-energise the tourism industry.
"Apart from domestic tourism, we have spiritual and adventure tourism. We are
focussing on adventure tourism, especially related to individual oriented activities,"
the senior official said.
She, however, said that the SOP will be issued by the Tourism Ministry.
