Cold wave: Essential services suspended in snow-bound Himachal; Punjab, Haryana shiver

Shimla/Chandigarh, Jan 10 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday issued an advisory for tourists to avoid visiting Shimla and Manali as Haryana and Punjab reeled under biting cold.

A 50-year-old Nepali citizen, Nandu Nath, died after falling on a road in Jubbal area of Shimla, police said.

As many as 66 people, including sick, old and pregnant women, were airlifted from Lahaul-Spiti to Kullu, the Chief Minister said.

District Administration of Shimla stated that vehicular traffic, road communication, power, water supply and other services was hit by accumulation of snow.

Jammu, July 4 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday informed that 227 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (30 from Jammu division and 197 from Kashmir division), have been reported thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 8,246.
