Cold wave: Essential services suspended in snow-bound Himachal; Punjab, Haryana shiver

Shimla/Chandigarh, Jan 10 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday issued an advisory for tourists to avoid visiting Shimla and Manali as Haryana and Punjab reeled under biting cold.

A 50-year-old Nepali citizen, Nandu Nath, died after falling on a road in Jubbal area of Shimla, police said.

As many as 66 people, including sick, old and pregnant women, were airlifted from Lahaul-Spiti to Kullu, the Chief Minister said.

District Administration of Shimla stated that vehicular traffic, road communication, power, water supply and other services was hit by accumulation of snow.

Bhopal, Jan 20 (UNI) Countries and foreign industrialists participating at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters will be briefed regarding reforms in policies and positive decisions taken by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s dispensation – during its maiden year in office – with the goal of creating an investment-friendly environment in the state.
Over 3,000 business and political leaders are expected at the four-day gathering commencing on Tuesday. A high-level delegation accompanying the Chief Minister shall meet officials of more than 30 companies.

Bhopal, Jan 20 (UNI) With the objective of attracting investment, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath will have one-to-one interactions – with more than 15 industrialists of national and international repute – on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting scheduled in Davos-Klosters from Tuesday to Friday, official sources said.
The Chief Minister is heading a high-level delegation from the state.
