Kohima, Apr 28 (UNI) A cultural exchange programme under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative of Union Ministry of Human Resource Development is underway at Nagaland University Headquarters Lumami under Zunheboto district yesterday, which will be concluded on May 1.



According to a statement issued by Peter Ki, PRO of the Nagaland University at Lumami Campus stated that a team of 14 members from Dr. Harisingh Gour University Sagar, Madhya Pradesh led by Dr. Bijia Sundri arrived at Lumami on April 26. The team consisted of 11 students, two assistants and a faculty in-charge. The members were well received by the host team led by Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, DDS & Nodal Officer of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.



The opening ceremony of was held yesterday at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall of Nagaland University at Lumami with Vice-Chancellor in-charge Prof. A.K Singh as the Chief Guest. The visiting team members interacted with the Vice-Chancellor in-charge, senior faculty and other University officials in the office chamber of the Vice-Chancellor. Sharing their experiences, the visiting students said that their perception about Nagaland had changed and the fears they had about Nagaland dissipated on getting a warm reception from the University fraternity.



The programme will incorporate a host of activities such as workshops on “Indigenous Agricultural Practices of Nagaland” and “Culture and Traditional Heritage of Nagaland,” as well as Cultural Excursion to historical places at Mokokchung district. Every evening, there will also be training sessions on folk song, folk dance, cultural games, and traditional sports of the different tribes of Nagaland. The closing ceremony will be held on May 1 at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall of the Nagaland University at Lumami, it said.
