New Delhi, July 11 (UNI) The BJP on Wednesday welcomed an World Bank report that says India has now emerged world's sixth largest economy in terms of GDP.
The report says that India has surpassed France and reached the GDP figure at $2.597 trillion in 2017.
The United State, China, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom occupied the top five positions.
In a statement here, BJP media in-charge Anil Baluni said this fact of the matter reflects the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the "bright future" the country is heading.
"During Congress tenure there also came a time when in International politics India was described as fragile five", the BJP leader said.
According to observers manufacturing and consumer spending were the main drivers of the Indian economy last year that helped country's financial health rebound strongly after several quarters of slow down, especially due to demonetisation and the implementation of the GST.
