BJP committed to protect farmers interests: Amit Shah

Bagalkot, Jan 17 (UNI) Ascertaining that BJP government was committed to protect the interests of the farmers in the country, Union Home Minister Amit shah on Sunday said that the government intention was to double the farmers income and the Modi government had increased the budget for the farm sector.
Defending that the three laws were made to ensure manifold increase in farmers income, Mr Shah said "I want to say that if there is any larger priority of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government it is to double the farmer’s income".
Speaking after laying the foundation stone and inauguration of farmer friendly projects of MRN group of newly inducted Karnataka Minister Murgesh R Nirani, he listed out various programmes and initiatives of the central government for the welfare of the farming community.
He stated that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa led BJP government in the state too has not left any stone unturned to work for the welfare of the farmers,
Questioning the Congress as to why it could not take up measures like Rs 6,000 cash support per year for farmers and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana scheme among others, he said and it was because the party’s intentions were not right.
Referring to continuing agitation by farmers, especially from Punjab and Haryana, on the border of Delhi, demanding the re-appeal of three laws, he said that under the new law farmers were not compelled anymore to sell their products at one place and can get access to global and Indian markets for their crops, he explained.
He said that none had the courage to abrogate the provisions of article 370 and article 35 A in Kashmir in the past 70 years.
"You made Modi the Prime Minister for second term and on August 5, 2019, he ended article 370 and article 35A from Kashmir and connected it with India permanently. Today elections were also held there peacefully without shedding even a drop of blood."
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said that both Modi and Amit Shah are trying to bring revolutionary changes in the country.
On Covid-19, he said that Prime Minister Modi took a bold step in controlling the virus besides encouraging Indian medical scientists to innovate the vaccine which had already been taken up across the country.
