Bentley to cut 1,000 jobs in UK

London, June 5 (UNI) The United Kingdom-based luxury carmaker Bentley Motors on Friday announced its plan to lay off 1,000 workers through a voluntary redundancy scheme due to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sputnik quoted a statement issued by the Volkswagen Group owned company said that the company is looking for 1,000 employees to accept the voluntary retirement terms and added that compulsory layoffs may be required in the future.
Bentley which is based in Crewe and has about 4,200 workers in the United Kingdom said that it would provide financial assistance to those employees that agree to leave the company voluntarily.
