B'desh: Legal notice to stop Hilsha export to India

Dhaka, Sep 11 (UNI) A legal notice has been sent to the government to stop the export of Hilsa to India.
Today, the Supreme Court lawyer sent this legal notice by registered mail to Mahmudul Hassan. In the notice, the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Resources, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of the Ministry of Private Aviation and Tourism, Chairman of the Board of Revenue, Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports and the Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation have been named defendants.
According to Bangladesh Export Policy 2021-24, Hilsa fish is not a freely exportable product. Ministry of Commerce completely unfairly allowed the export of Hilsa to India, ignoring public interest. If the Bangladesh government wants foreigners to enjoy the taste of Hilsa, the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation can organise "Hilsha Festival" on behalf of the government. Where foreigners will be invited to travel to Bangladesh and enjoy the taste of Hilsa. Indians may even be invited to travel to Bangladesh to enjoy the taste of Hilsa during the upcoming Durga Puja.
