At least 81 dead in Pakistan avalanches, several injured

Islamabad, Jan 14 (UNI) At least 81 people were killed and several others trapped in separate weather-related incidents in Pakistan on Tuesday.
The death toll has more than doubled, since 61 people were reported to have suffered weather-related deaths in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), while Balochistan was also severely affected as heavy rains across the province claimed 20 lives, while leaving at least 11 injured. according to the estimates reported in The Dawn.
Fayyaz Ali Abbasi, a senior official in the PoK government, said that 53 people were rescued.
The National Disaster Management Authority was cited as saying the it is expecting an increase in the death and injury tolls.
Hundreds of people were stranded overnight, after a massive snow storm swept the northwestern province of Balochistan, with temperatures dropping to minus 14 degree Celsius.
