Arunachal Police busts fake currency racket, arrests one

Itanagar, Oct 26 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) busted a fake Indian currency circulating racket and arrested one person in this connection. Police also recovered 40 bundles of counterfeit notes of 500 denominations with face value of Rs 20 lakhs.
Itanagar Capital Complex SP Jimmy Chiram informed that the police could achieve the breakthrough following receipt of information from the NGO ‘Indigenous Movement against Corruption and Reformation’ on October 22 last that a few people were roaming in Banderdewa area (the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh) and trying to circulate fake currencies in the state.
“The moment we got the information, we formed a special team, including members of the NGO, led by the officer-in-charge of Banderdewa Police Station Inspector Tadu Hassang and arrested one Ashwuddin Islam (24) of No.1 Islampur village, Bangalmara under Assam’s Bihpuria PS from Banderdewa,” the SP said, adding that the recoveries were made from him.
