AP: Ships berthing violating Covid-19 regulations in Kakinada Port; inquiry sought against Port officials

Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 5 (UNI) Several Cargo ships coming from foreign ports, especially those badly-affected by Covid-19, have been allowed to directly berth both in Anchorage port and also the privatized deep water port here during the peak months from April till December last year, in violation of the quarantine rules issued under the Covid-19 restrictions, allegedly by the port officials.
V. Vijaya Kumar, a social worker and RTI activist, in his complaint, has demanded the State Commissioner of Health and family welfare to institute an enquiry into the whole episode as the Port health officer, who is the designated officer to enforce the quarantine regulations comes under the control of the department of health, medical and family welfare , Andhra Pradesh government.
