AP Minister Lokesh calls on Rajnath Singh in Delhi, seeks defence cluster

Vijayawada/New Delhi, Feb 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh, who is on a visit to the National Capital called on Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the latter's residence on Wednesday.



Lokesh explained in detail to Rajnath about the developmental activities undertaken after the TDP-led NDA came to power in the state.

The IT Minister made an appeal to the Union Minister to set up a defence cluster in Andhra Pradesh and sought the Centre's cooperation to establish some units in the state against the backdrop of huge investments in the defence sector which will generate large scale employment opportunities for the youth.



Informing Singh that the State is being brought on track which was in chaos due to the faulty policies adopted by the previous YSRCP government, he briefed him how the works in the capital city of Amaravati and Polavaram are moving on a progressive path with the Centre's cooperation.

Lokesh thanked Rajnath for the Central assistance and said that the Union Government is helping the State to come out of the crisis created by the previous government which pushed the State into Rs 10 lakh crore debt.



The Minister also said that the TDP-led NDA Government is working hard to take the state towards a developmental path in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat.

Rajnath promised to extend his cooperation for the development of Andhra Pradesh. Union Ministers Ram Mohan Naidu and Srinivasa Varma, and party MPs were also present.



Lokesh, on Wednesday promised all cooperation from the state government to Google Cloud in setting up the Data City in the port city of Visakhapatnam.



The Managing Director of the Google Cloud Bikram Singh, the Country Director (Public Sector and EdTech), Asish and their team met the IT Minister in the National Capital this morning and they discussed about the Data City being set up in Visakhapatnam.

Lokesh told them that the AP Economic Development Board is working actively to clear all the necessary permissions like land allocation.



Asking the Google Cloud heads to accelerate the process of setting up the Data City as it will totally revamp the facet of Visakhapatnam, the Minister said and expressed hope that the Data City will be a gamechanger for establishing an environment system for start-ups and to design the world-class applications in Artificial Intelligence (AI).



Bikram Singh appreciated the efforts being made by the Andhra Pradesh Government for digital transformation. He also said that all the necessary measures will be taken to speed up the process for setting up the Data City.
