Rewa (Madhya Pradesh), Nov 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said any government in the country should be committed to the "welfare of poor people" and this strictly has been the 'mantra' of the NDA dispensation.
Addressing an election rally here, Mr Modi said the rich and well to do sections of people can always manage things for themselves but it is the "poor" who need the support and assistance of the government departments - be it for health service or for moving one place to another.
The Prime Minister said the Shivraj Singh Chouhan ministry has heralded a new era of development in Madhya Pradesh - which suffered from mis-governance of 55 years under the Congress rule.
He said if there is any comparison, the 15 years of BJP performance will come out to be better than the
55 years of Congress rule.
However, he said, Shivraj Singh Chouhan could effectively function without much hurdles only during
last four-and-half years after his (Narendra Modi) government came to power at the Centre.
"For 10 years, there was a remote controlled regime in Delhi with Madam (Sonia Gandhi) controlling
the show. They created all sorts of hurdles for the Chief Minister," Mr Modi alleged.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister addressed a rally in Jhabua.
In the coming days, he will also address election meetings in Jabalpur, Vidisha, Mandsaur and Chhatarpur.
Elections to the Madhya Pradesh assembly will take place on November 28.
