Imphal, Apr 17 (UNI)The poll for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency will be held tomorrow.
All arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the polls which will begin at 0700 hours and conclude at 1600 hours.
There was no poll related political activities today as all political functionaries, including party functionaries, who had come from outside the constituency for campaigning and are not the voters of the constituency, were asked to leave the constituency immediately after the campaign on Tuesday at 1600 hours.
The eleven candidates in the fray are concentrating on selection of polling agents for the polls tomorrow.
The seat now occupied by Dr Th Meinya of Congress will be contested by Oinam Nabakishore Singh of the party.
The other contenders are Moirangthem Nara Singh of CPI, Dr. Rajamukar Ranjan Singh of BJP , R.K. Anand of NEIDP , Oinam Jugindro Singh of MPP, Dr. G. Tonsana Sharma of MDPF , Senjam Nandeshwore Singh of RJS, and the four Independents-- Md. Iliyash Khan, M. Totomsana Nongshaba, Rajkumar Somendro Singh (Kaiku), Wahengbam Pabitra Sing.
About 45 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and state police will be used and to ensure free and fair polls security agencies had seized Rs 33,86,04,875 worth contraband items.
Lamlong Higher Secondary School polling station of Wangkhei Assembly will be manned only by PWDs.
A total of two assembly segments, out of 30 will be manned only by women personnel viz, 14-Yaiskul and 26-Bishnupur.
Security personnel have reached all the 1300 polling stations and additional forces have been provided in 56 stations classified as critical.
In another 54 stations classified as vulnerable, slightly less numbers of security will be provided.
The female voters exceed the male voters in the state. Out of the total 928626 voters there are 447842 male voters .
For the first time there will be 32 transgender voters. About 8838 service electors will be exercising their franchise.
