32 teams to take part in Beach volleyball world tour in Vizag

Visakhapatnam, Jan 11 (UNI) Visakhapatnam will host the FIVB beach volleyball World tour for men and women here from Feb 28 to March 3 this year.

As many as 32 teams from all over the world will take part in the event.

Addressing the media after launching the logo at a function here on Friday, Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) Secretary General ,
Ramavtar Singh Jakhar said this was the first time the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has allotted the game to India .

The federation has decided to conduct the event in Visakhapatnam as the city having necessary infrastructure and beautiful sea coast 'Volleyball
as a team game is getting popular day by day, specially after successful launch of Pro-volleyball league and now we want to introduce the beach version
which is extremely popular world wide in the Indian soil', he said.
In line with its objective commitment VFI teamed up with the leisure sports management at kolkota based sports promoting company to organize the
event, Jakhar informed.
Andhra Pradesh volleyball Association President P.G.V.R Naidu said the city of Visakhapatnam became a sports event after bifurcation of the state as the
city having necessary sports infrastructure and the state government has given special importance for the city for sports.
The city had already conducted several national international sports events earlier.
The beach volleyball world tour will help to showplace the Visakhapatnam on international map as 32 teams from across the globe will take part in the
event, he added.
