184 candidates in poll fray with assets worth Rs one Cr and more in Phase V

Kolkata, Apr 30 (UNI) The Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) has stated that there are 184 candidates, contesting in the Lok Sabha Phase five election on May 6, with assets worth Rs one crore and more.
As per Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), 28 per cent of the candidates in the fifth phase are 'crorepatis'.
The National Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 668 out of 674 candidates, who are contesting in the Lok Sabha Phase 5.
There are six candidates who have not been analysed due to unavailability of their properly scanned and complete affidavits, at the time of making this report.

Among the major parties 38 (79 per cent) out of 48 candidates from BJP, 32 (71 per cent) out of 45 candidates from INC, 17 (52 per cent) out of 33 candidates from BSP, 8 (89 per cent) out of 9 candidates from SP and 31 (12 per cent) out of 252 independent candidates have declared assets worth more than Rs one crore.

The average asset per candidate contesting in the Lok Sabha Phase 5 election is Rs. 2.57 crores.

Among major parties, the average asset per candidate for 48 BJP candidates is Rs. 6.91 crores, 45 INC candidates is Rs 8.74 crores, 33 BSP candidates have average assets of Rs 3.32 crores, and 9 SP candidates have average assets of Rs 31.57 crores.

There are three candidates who have declared zero assets.

There are 58 (9 per cent) candidates who have not given PAN details.

There are 264 (40 per cent) out of 668 candidates who have declared their educational qualification to be between 5th and 12th, while 348 (52 per cent)candidates have declared having an educational qualification of graduate or above. 43 candidates have declared to be just literate and 6 candidates are illiterate.
There are 208 (31 per cent) candidates who have declared their age to be between 25 to 40 years while 343 (51 per cent) candidates have declared their age to be between 41 to 60 years. There are 113 (17 per cent) candidates who have declared their age to be between 61 to 80 years. 3 candidates have not giventheir age.

There are 79 (12 per cent) female candidates who are contesting in the Lok Sabha Phase 5 elections.
According to UNI report from Shimla, the ADR said that Poonam Shatrughan Sinha, wife of actor-turned-politician and Congress’ Shatrughan Sinha, is the richest candidate in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls, with with declared assets worth Rs 193 crore.
Ms Sinha also figure among the second highest liabilities candidates recealing Rs 28 crore debt but with Rs 193 crore total assets.
Jayant Sinha, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation and BJP’s candidate for Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, has declared the highest annual income at more than Rs 5 crore.
Two independent candidates, Guru Gokulchand Rashtarwadi Munni as well as Narayan Das Jatav from Madhya Pradesh Jan Vikas Party have declared their assets as zero.
Where as Rinku Kumar Meena and Dwarka Prasad both in fray from Dausa constituency of Rajasthan on
Peoples Party of India (Democartic) and BSP ticket revealed only Rs 1,000 movable assets and Babulal Kol of MP in the fray from Rewa on Adhikar Vikas Party ticket revealed Rs 1,200 movable assets.
Rafique Mandelia of Rajsthan fighting fro mChuru seat on Cong ticket revealed highest liabilities of Rs 46 crore with total assets of Rs 59 crore.
Interestingly ADR said that 58 that is 9 percent candidate have not given detail of their PAN in the declaration.
Shyam Gupta of SP in fray from Banda from UP with total assets of Rs 65 Cr plus had shown the salary and other business of Rs 4 crore plus mostly self income and Jayant Sinha of BJP shown the family and self income of Rs five crore and Rs 35 lakh respectively in the income tax return .
Dr Joyti Mirdha of Congress is in fray from Nagur seat of Rajasthan revealed total assets of Rs 65 crore plus having self ,spouse and family pension and business income of Rs four crore and self income of just Rs three lakh per annum.
