Zelensky dismisses defence minister Fedorov amid military and political tensions

Kyiv, Jul 16 (UNI) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, ending the tenure of the country's youngest-ever defence chief after just six months in office, reports russian state owned media entity RT.
The 35-year-old technocrat confirmed his departure on Wednesday, calling his service "a great honour." In a lengthy farewell statement, Fedorov highlighted what he described as key achievements during his time in office, but acknowledged that he failed in reforming the ministry in accordance with "NATO standards".
Zelensky declined to publicly comment on his decision, which comes as part of another sweeping government reshuffle that has already seen Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and her cabinet removed.
