Yuksam Declaration on World Tourism Day: will not have tourists & local visitors till end of Nov

Gangtok, Sep 26 ( UNI ) Who says public in rural Sikkim is not aware of Coronavirus risk possibilities? After Lachung Dzomsa, North Sikkim on Friday, it is now Yuksam West Sikkim, refusing entry to Tourists. The stakeholders, Yuksam Panchayat, Yuksam Tourism Development Committee, a section of Public and ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha tourism wing, discussed the Unlock-1 across the State and have decided not to permit even locals. They have passed a resolution on it. The Tourism & Civil Aviation Deptt has been informed by the concerned. According to official sources, Govt notification confirming the same is likely by Monday in this regard.
On the other hand ,It is well known that Sikkim is gearing up for Unlock-1 from 1st October and opening doors for Tourists from 10th October’2020. However,except a few villages the rest of the destinations with Home Stays, Hotels, Restaurants, Religious places, Historic & Heritage destinations will be offering services, on the condition of possession of Health certificate confirming ‘Coronavirus less Tourists’.
While the World Tourism Day is being observed globally on Sunday, Sikkim Tourism is looking forward to getting promoted with all the other 7 North Eastern States, by none other than Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He is scheduled to inaugurate ‘Destination North East 2020, in a virtual mode, to turn NE Region into most attractive, post COVID19 Tourism & Business destination.

COVID-19: Toll in Bengal rises to 6,664, cases touch 3,61,703

Kolkata, Oct 28 (UNI) The COVID-19 toll in Bengal rose to 6,664 with the death of 60
persons on Wednesday, while the tally touched 3,61,703 with 3,924 new confirmed
cases.
According to the latest State Government Health bulletin, the active cases accounted
for 37,111, while the number of discharged cases stood at 3,17,928.
The percentage of discharged rose to 87.90 per cent.

Three more COVID-19 deaths, 90 fresh cases in Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct 28 (UNI) Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded three more COVID-related deaths,
including two women, pushing up the number of fatalities to 85, while 90 fresh cases took the
number of active cases to 1,364, even as 134 more recoveries took the number of recovered
persons to 7,777, health officials said.
