YSRCP crumbles TDP, Jagan Reddy to take oath on May 30

Amaravati, May 23 (UNI) The YSR Congress party led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy crumbled the ruling Telugu Desam party by winning 145 Assembly seats and leading in 5 seats and Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that he would take oath as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on May 30.
The YSRCP candidates established clear leads since beginning of counting on the morning of Thursday. The YSRCP has won 145 Assembly seats and is leading in 5 more seats out 175 total seats till results received till now. The YSRCP is also leading in 22 MP seats out of total 25 seats.
Most of the minister of Chandrababu Naidu led government including Chandrababu Naidu’s minister son N Lokesh, D Umamaheshwra Rao, Kalva Srinivaslu, Bhuma Akhilapriya, Jawahar, Kollur Ravindra, P Narayana, Prattipati Pulla Rao, C Adinarayana Reddy, Assembly Speaker Kodela Shiva Prasada Rao, TDP state president and energy minister K Kala Venkata Rao bite the dust in the hands YSRCP candidates.
However, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa were among 19 TDP MLAs who scraped through the election. The TDP who won 104 seats in the 2014 election, could manage to win 19 seats this time and it is leading in 5 more seats. Meanwhile, the YSRCP registered a massive victory in the election by winning 145 seats and leading 5 seats when last reports came in.
After witnessing the debacle, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu submitted his resignation to Governor E S L Narasimhan who accepted it and asked him to be care taker Chief Minister till the new government is formed.
Meanwhile, festive mood prevailed at the residence of Jagan Mohan Reddy as large number of YSRCP activists celebrated the victory by firing crackers and distributed sweets.
Talking to media, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that he would take oath as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on May 10 here itself. “People have a lot of expectations on me. I will do my level best to provide good governance and fulfil their aspirations and stand by the people” he said adding that he was given an opportunity by the 5 crore people of the state to be the Chief Minister and vowed to keep up their aspirations. Realising that the TDP was going to be decimated by the YSRCP, TDP ministers and leaders left the counting centres and were beyond reach of media.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao congratulated Jagan Mohan Reddy for his election triumph over phone. Interestingly, the Janasena party, launched by the film actor turned politician K Pawan Kalyan won only one seat. Mr.Pawan Kalyan who contested from Gajuwada and Bhimavaram for Assembly was defeated in both the constituencies by the YSRCP candidates. The Congress and BJP also failed to win a single seat in the state. BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana was defeated in Narasarao pet constituency.
