Youthful Indian Arrows held star studded Mohun Bagan 1-1 on rival turf in I-Leauge

Kolkata, Dec 29 (UNI) Star studded Mohun Bagan received another major jolt in their

quest to regain the I-League when they were forced to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Indian

Arrows, comprising young home grown players, in sixth round play at their turf here

today.

Sanjay Sen's boys surged ahead on their home ground Mohun Bagan when Aser

Pierrick Dipanda converted the penalty shot in the 27th minute of play. But the the

lead for the Mariners was short stay. Six minutes later Indian Arrow's Rahul Kannoly

Praveen brought the game into level 1-1 leaving the high profile Mohun Bagan in real

danger for their quest to regain championship after two years gap.

Winners 2014-15 Mohun Bagan had started their campaign on a high this season

with two wins and a draw. The victories included a Kolkata derby ( vs East Bengal)

triumph and a thumping 5-goal win over Churchill Brothers. But the Green and Maroon

brigade stumbled again and again in previous week with drawn matches from Shillong

Lajong and Neroca FC and slid down to 5th place with 10 points from six matches.

In the pre-match conference head coach Sanjay Sen had said, "In the last match

against NEROCA FC we created more chances but unfortunately could not convert.

We have already lost too many points. Three draws are equivalent to defeats. We

have dropped six points already. We cannot afford to lose any more points."

There were two changes for either sides. Sony Norde could still not make himself fit

after sustaining an aggravating injury in the 0-0 draw with NEROCA FC. The suspended

Eze Kingsley also made a comeback as Rana Gharami had to warm the benches. Nikhil

Kadam was given a run out in the left side of the flank as Ansumana Kromah and Aser

Dipanda led the attack for the hosts.

Luis Norton de Matos took charge of the team after his Christmas break as Nongdamba

Naorem forced his way into the lineup after his flamboyant goal in the 3-0 thrashing of

Shillong Lajong on Boxing Day.
