Youth drowns while fishing in waterbody in Kupwara

Srinagar, Oct 20 (UNI) A youth drowned in a waterbody while fishing in Lolab in north Kashmir district of Kupwara on Saturday, official sources said.
They said the youth, identified as Shaheen Ahmad Mir, was fishing in a waterbody, constructed for irrigation purposes by the Irrigation department in Lolab, alongwith his friends.
“Mir slipped and drowned in the waterbody,” they said. Other people present at the spot also jumped in the waterbody, but could not save him.
The body of the deceased was later retrieved by the locals. “After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites,” they added.
