Youth drowns in swimming pool in Nashik

Nashik, Nov 4 (UNI) An 18-year-old college student died after drowning in a swimming pool, run by the Nashik Municipal Corporation.
The deceased, identified as Devvrat Sadhashiv Gaikwad, had been learning to swim at the Savarkar Talav, since the past two years.
On Saturday, as Gaikwad started his practice, he was unable to breathe and fell unconscious.
The lifeguard immediately rescued the boy, after which he was rushed to the district civic hospital. However, he was declared dead on arrival.
According to police, the victim was a resident of Jyoti Mangal Apartment in Ganjamal area of city.
After conducting the post-mortem, his body was handed over to the relatives of the boy.
A case of accidental death has been registered with the Sarkarwada police station.
