Youth Congress launches rail campaign in Mumbai against vote theft; party highlights concerns over electoral integrity

Mumai, Nov 8 (UNI) The Mumbai Youth Congress has initiated a distinctive public outreach programme focusing on electoral integrity, with party members directly engaging commuters in metro and local trains across the city.
The campaign, spearheaded by Youth Congress President Jayant Shibrin, saw activists travelling on train routes between Ghatkopar and Sakinaka, as well as from Andheri to Goregaon, to educate citizens about potential risks to the voting process.
This initiative comes amid allegations raised by Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, who has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of electoral malpractice with alleged assistance from the Election Commission. Gandhi has expressed concerns about growing doubts surrounding democratic institutions and the impact on the credibility of free and fair elections.

Maha govt to amend MCOCA to target gutkha suppliers: Fadnavis

Nagpur, Dec 9 (UNI) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced in the Assembly that the state government will move to amend the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) so that it can be used against suppliers and distributors of banned products such as gutkha, pan masala, and charas.
Fadnavis, who also holds the home portfolio, told the Assembly that under the current version of the Act, its invocation requires an element of threat or physical harm, a provision that makes it difficult to use against habitual vendors of banned products.
