Meerut (UP), Oct 4 (UNI) Even as an accused has been detained by the police in murder of a youth allegedly over having an affair with a girl of different religion, the family members of the victim staged a dharna on Tuesday demanding arrest of the real culprits, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Deepak Tyagi, a resident of Khajuri village was beheaded with some unidentified persons on September 26. "While his beheaded body was recovered from the jungles the next day, his head was recovered by the police on Monday," they said.
Police sources said that the police have detained one person in this connection. "When quizzed the accused revealed that Deepak was having illicit relationship with his daughter and despite repeated warning did not mend his way. After this the accused hatched a conspiracy to kill Deepak," they said.
Police sources said that the accused revealed that on September 26 he called Deepak and made him consume liquor. "When Deepak got drunk the accused beheaded him with a sword and threw his body and head in the jungle," they said.
Meanwhile, demanding compensation and accusing the police of hushing up the matter, Deepak's family members staged a Dharna on Meerut-Parikshit Garh road with the victim's head kept in a deep freezer. "On Tuesday District Magistrate Deepak Meena and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohit Sajwan met the agitating family members, but the deadlock continues," they said.
Police sources said that Deepak's family has alleged that the police are trying to shield the real culprits.
