Youth arrested by UPATS for spying for Pakistan's ISI

Lucknow, Sep 26 (UNI) A youth has been arrested by the Anti Terror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police on charges of spying for Pakistan Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), an official spokesman said here on Tuesday.
The spokesman said that the ATS had received information that ISI was collecting secret information about the Indian Army and its operations by luring some persons from India for the sake of money.
He said, "When the information was confirmed by the ATS through physical and electronic surveillance it was revealed that a person named Shailesh Kumar alias Shailendra Singh Chauhan, a resident of Patiali in Kasganj district shared information related to the Army to Pakistan ISI through Whatsapp and Facebook."
The spokesman said that acting on the information, the ATS lodged a case against the accused and arrested him. "The accused is being produced before the court and further action is being taken," he said.
He said that when quizzed it was revealed that Shailesh had important information related to the Indian Army as he had worked as a temporary porter for the army in Arunachal Pradesh for around eight to nine months. "Though Shailesh is not serving on any post in the Indian Army, he has claimed to be serving in the army on his social media profile."
The spokesman said that Shailesh created a profile in the name of Shailesh Chauhan on social media platforms on which he posted his picture in army uniform. "Through Facebook Shailesh came into contact with an ID in the name of Harleen Kaur and started chatting on messenger. Besides, he was also having audio calls with an ISI handler Priti on Whatsapp," he said.
He said that Priti told Shailesh that she worked for ISI and he would be given a handsome amount if he cooperated with her. "For the sake of money Shailesh sent the pictures of locations of important installations related to the army and movements of vehicles to handler Priti. He also sent the same information to Harleen Kaur," he said.
The spokesman said that Shailesh passed on information to Priti several times for which he received money. "Harleen Kaur and Priti are ISI handlers, who were using pseudo names across the border, collect information and provide the same to Pakistan's ISI," he said.
