Islamabad, Sep 21 (UNI) Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth of Muharram, is being observed on Friday with traditional religious solemnity and fervour in Pakistan to commemorate the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), and his companions at Karbala to uphold the truth.
On the occasion, 'Alam', 'Zuljinah' and 'Taazia' processions will be taken out in all cities and towns of the country.
Religious clerics and scholars will highlight the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain and would shed light over the historical, social and religious aspects of his supreme sacrifice, a report in Radio Pakistan said.
Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure law and order situation and security of mourning processions.
Hazrat Imam Hussain, along with his 72 companions, including friends and family members, were martyred at the hand of Yazid’s troops at the battle of Karbala in Iraq in 61 AH (680 AD) after the former rejected to make allegiance with the latter's despotic rule.
