Lucknow, Oct 28 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the BJP government has lived up to its promise of promoting the traditional cottage, handicraft industry and entrepreneurship by launching the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme.
CM Yogi said the creation of huge job opportunity at low capital investment is the unique feature of the ODOP scheme.
Addressing a special summit on the traditional handicraft of Lucknow 'Chikan and Jardozi' here on Sunday, Yogi said that the BJP during the March, 2017 assembly elections had promised to launch a specific scheme for promoting the traditional handicraft and cottage industry as each district of the state has a unique identity in the forms of traditional crafts.
Chief Minister said that so far 11,755 artisans in different crafts have been provided loan of over Rs 1,000 crore. The ODOP scheme was launched on January 25 this year. He said so far under ODOP over 1.65 lakh persons have been provided employment by the MSME sector.
On the Occasion Yogi Adityanath also released a catalogue 'Zari- Zardozi'. He also distributed tool kit and cheques of loan to 10 entrepreneurs.
CM said the future belongs to the MSME (micro, small, medium enterprise) sector as this sector is growing at fast pace and also labour intensive.
Prominent E commerce companies also made the presentation on the occasion which have provided marketing platform to the small entrepreneurs producing traditional handicraft items and other products.
Chief Minister said along with the E commerce companies the state government has taken series of measures to create enabling environment for the marketing of products of the MSME sector in national and international market.
He said after the launch of the ODOP scheme in January last, special summit for ODOP was organised here in August which was inaugurated by the President Ram Nath Kovind.
"Two years ago Uttar Pradesh was nowhere in the priority of the investors. ODOP has changed the profile of the state and it gives me immense pleasure for me to see the ODOP launched by the BJP government is acquiring concreter shape in the state resulting in investment and the job creation’’, said the CM adding ``impressed by the success of the ODOP in Uttar Pradesh, many states are following our model and implementing this scheme in their states’’.
CM assured the entrepreneurs that there will be no dearth of the budgetary support for the ODOP scheme.
Satyadeo Pachauri, state minister for MSME and export promotion said that ever since the launch the ODOP scheme is steadily surging ahead where special emphasis has been laid on the capacity and skill enhancement of the entrepreneurs with the ultimate objective of adding to their income.
He said besides training modern tools have been provided to large number of entrepreneurs across the 75 districts of the state. He said such programs are proposed to be organised in each district in coming days which will focus on the particular traditional craft of each district.
He said the Zari-Zardozi summit has been organized for the benefit of the craftsman of eight districts. He said the buyers and designers are also participating in the summit which will help in better marketing of the traditional garments produced by the chicken and jardozi industry.
