New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) Yesteryear actor Biswajit Chatterjee joined the BJP on Monday.
Biswajit of 'Bees Saal Baad' fame joined the saffron party in presence of Bengal unit in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya.
This indicates that the former actor may contest from a seat in West Bengal, where BJP is looking for popular faces to be fielded as candidates.
In January, actress Moshumi Chatterjee and Trinamool Congress lawmaker Saumitra Khan joined the BJP.
The 82-year-old, father of popular Tollywood actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, had unsuccessfully contested as Trinamool Congress candidate from South Delhi constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and lost it.
The BJP has set a target of 22 plus out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal.
At present, the saffron party has only two MPs -- S S Ahluwalia and Babul Supriyo.
Earlier in the day, suspended BJP MP from Darbhanga in Bihar, Kirti Azad joined the Congress.
