Hyderabad, Jul 19 (UNI) Mr Manu Kumar Jain Managing Director, Xiaomi India on Friday said that Xiaomi will continue its domination in Smartphone segment in the country.
Talking to newsmen here on the occasion of fifth anniversary of its India operations, Mr Manu said that as per IDC Report (on Smartphones) Xiaomis sales stood at about 40 million during the last four quarters and about 10 million per quarter.
We have 30-33 per cent market share of total market size of 140 million smartphones in the country. The IDC also predicted that Xiaomi would retain the same market share during the current fiscal.
He said that their Indian journey was started in April 15, 2014 by launching Redmi 3 Smartphone on online at New Delhi. At the time of launching it, the online business was only 6 per cent. Within three years (by July 2017), we became largest Smartphone seller in the country.
Stating that Xiaomi’s Redmi brand stood at number one brand in the country during the largest last six to seven quarters, Mr Manu said the company was manufacturing three phones per second in its seven manufacturing units situated in four campuses of Bangaluru, (Karnataka) Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Sri City (Andhra Pradesh) and Noida (Madhya Pradesh). Redmi Smartphones would be available in the price range of Rs 6000 and Rs 31000, he added.
Mr Manu said that the Smart TVs which were launched one-and-half years ago now became number one in India by securing 39 per cent of market share.
Sony, LG and Samsung together has 41 per cent of market share, he said.
Stating that Smartphones, Smart TVs and Power Banks are their biggest volume drivers in India, Mr Manu said the three products were manufacturing in India and the other products like fines brand, batteries, T-shirts, luggage, trimmer, earphones, speakers, LED lights, LED lamps and among other Xiaomi products which were available in Indian market are being still imported.
Some more products like two-wheelers, washing machines and shoes were also being planned to introduce in India during the next two years, the Xiaomi Managing Director said.
Stating that their biggest business in India was Smartphone sales, Mr Manu said the company was launched its off line journey two years back. Now it has 50 per cent market share in online and 20 per cent market share in off line by presenting 200 cities across the country. “We are also planning to spread its presence in 2000 cities by the end of this year or beginning of next year (2020)”, Mr Manu said.
Stating that Xiaomi.com is the third largest e-commerce platform in the country after Amazon and Flipkart, Mr Manu said the company has more than 1500 service centers and 1000 employees.
