Itanagar, Jun 11 (UNI) After extensive search operations to locate the missing Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 aircraft, the wreckage of the ill-fated aircraft has been spotted near Gatte under Payum Circle in Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
“The wreckage of the ill-fated AN-32 that went missing on June 3 has been located through aerial search near Gatte in Payum Circle at a height of 11500 ft today,” a release from DIPR said.
The aircraft that lost control at Payum after it took off from Jorhat for appears to have turned left towards Mechuka from Gasheng village and lost its control near Gatte. The area has tough topography and terrain. The Indian Army and local Arunachal Scouts with the help and assistance are ready to move towards the spot, it said.
Er Somar Potom, Deputy Director APEDA, who has been deputed by the West Siang District administration to be part of the search operation disclosed that though the wreckage site has been spotted, he along with pilots, IAF authority have started for close and final survey, the official release said.
Er Potom is with the search team for the last six days to locate route and terrain of that area, it said.
