New Delhi, Jul 15 (UNI) The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly Wholesale Price Index (WPI), stood at 2.02 per cent for the month of June, 2019 as compared to 2.45 per cent for the previous month, the Government announced on Monday.
The inflation rate based on WPI was 5.68 per cent during June, 2018. The official WPI for 'All Commodities' for June, 2019 rose by 0.2 per cent to 121.5 from 121.2 for the previous month, The Commerce and Industry Ministry said here.
According to the data, build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 1.33 per cent compared to a buildup rate of 2.41 per cent in the corresponding period of the previous year.
For Primary Articles, the index rose by 1.4 per cent to 141.4 from 139.5 for the previous month. The index for 'Food Articles' group rose by 1.1 per cent to 151.7 from 150.1 for the previous month while the index for ' Non-Food Articles' group rose by 0.7 per cent to 128.7 from 127.8 for the previous month. The index for 'Minerals' group rose by 14.5 per cent to 158.0 from 138.0.
The Ministry said the index for 'Crude Petroleum & Natural Gas' group declined by 0.3 per cent to 92.5 from 92.8.
The index for Fuel and Power group, however, declined by 1.3 per cent to 102.1 from 103.4 for the previous month.
The index for Manufactured Group remained unchanged at its previous month level of 118.4 while the index for 'Manufacture of Food Products' group rose by 0.9 per cent to 130.4 from 129.2 for the previous month.
The index for 'Manufacture of Beverages' group rose by 0.7 per cent to 123.3 from 122.5 for the previous month. The index for 'Manufacture of Tobacco Products' group rose by 2 per cent to 155.1 from 152.1, the data showed.
For April, 2019, the final Wholesale Price Index for 'All Commodities' stood at 121.1 as compared to 120.9 and annual rate of inflation based on final index stood at 3.24 per cent as compared to 3.07 per cent respectively.
