London, Jan 22 (UNI) The gap between the super rich and the rest of the world widened in the year 2017 as wealth continued to be owned by a small minority, Oxfam -- an international confederation of several NGOs working with partners in over 90 countries to end the injustices that cause poverty -- has claimed, according to a BBC News report on Monday.
Some 82 per cent of money generated last year went to the richest 1 per cent of the global population while the poorest half saw no increase at all, the charity said.
Oxfam said its figures -- which critics have queried -- showed a failing system.
