World will be a better place if people of India and China enjoy a better life: Luo Zhaohui

New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) China's Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui on Wednesday said the challenges faced by the people of India and China were similar and that the world will become a better place if people of both countries enjoy a better life.
In the preface of the new edition of the Chinese embassy magazine, based on relations between the two countries, launched by him at a function here, Mr Zhaohui emphasised on improving the relations and contacts between the citizens of the Republic of China and India .
''Chinese people are pursuing the 'Chinese Dreams' and resolutely moving towards the goal of building a moderately prosperous society (Xiaokang). Indian people are building a 'New India'. It's my conviction that the 'Chinese Dream' and 'New India Dream' are intimately interwined and to realise these dreams the two countries need to work closely and partner on an entire gamut of developmental challenges and aspirations. When the people of China and India enjoy a better life, the whole world would become a better place,'' he said.
Former President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Prof Lokesh Chandra, Chief of the India-China Friendship Committee, Tarun Vijay, former diplomat Amarendra Khatua and journalist Manish Chand were present at the launch of the magazine.
''I am confident that China-India relations will retain positive momentum and go from strength to strength,'' he said.
He said that this journal is a vision and is acting as a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
He suggested to start a competition for the readers and to give the winners the opportunity to visit China.
He also suggested to print readers' memoirs about their visit of China.
While highlighting the role of letter magazines in bringing the common people of India closer to China, Mr Zhaohui said that the Hindi version of this magazine should also be published.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Chandra said that the 2000 year old friendship of India and China should be taken forward for the next 3000 years.
''China will always play a constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability. As our foreign minister Wang Yi said recently, we are confident that China and India will work together to expand their cooperation in all areas, especially people to people relations so that our friendship and cooperation will surge ahead like the Yangtze and the Ganges,'' the Chinese Ambassador added.
