New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) In the wake of murder of an Indian girl, who had gone to Canada on a study visa, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote a letter to Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary on Sunday, assuring him that the Indian Consulate was closely following the matter and taking steps to bring her mortal remains to India.
The girl, identified as Prabhleen Kaur, daughter of photojournalist Gurdial Singh, was murdered in Surrey, Canada on November 27. She hailed from village Chitti in Jalandhar district.
Mr Chaudhary had raised the issue with Dr Jaishankar in New Delhi, when he met him. He had requested the Foreign Minister to bring the mortal remains of Prabhleen on Union government's expenses.
